Meet Shima-chan – he’s the official mascot of 2017 Matsuri in Sydney.
He takes his name from the first characters of シドニー (Sydney) and まつり(matsuri). He wears a happi coat and traditional hachimaki headband, and his uchiwa fan keeps him cool in the summer. Shima-chan is super excited to take you on a matsuri adventure to share his favourite takoyaki, goldfish scooping, and taiko drumming, among many other fun activities!
He was designed by Leah Kramer, who also goes by her artist name 2wintails.
